Expanded Dimensions is up and spectacular

I apologize for this second email… I didn’t know I was sending out the first one when I did. A learning experience. Here is the competed copy.

“Expanded Dimensions” has been installed and will offically open on November 5, 2020. The gallery will not be open to the public due to an abundance of caution and COVID-19. The gallery is doing an exceptional job of getting the arts out to us however!

Listen to my artist talk on Nov.12 6:30 https://www.facebook.com/riffegallery/live. (You can watch past artist and curator talks in that online gallery as well.) I will post more pictures when I can get back into the gallery and take some. The Riffe has strict controls and limits who can and cannot enter the gallery. These were taken during the installation. No lights have been installed as of yet… stay tuned!

Open Door Gallery is opening their doors to creative collaboration! This Inspired That invites selected community artists to hand-pick an Open Door artwork that sparks creative vision. They then use that spark to create a response piece, relating to the original through content, stylization, or subject matter. The two works are displayed side-by-side in an exhibition that highlights artistic admiration.

See “Dharma” side by side with Wallace Pecks piece “Aunt Ninny” here.

Fiber arts have a deep connection to mathematics. Calculation and measurement are readily employed in constructing objects made of yarn, fabric, thread, reed, and the myriad of materials utilized by contemporary artists as they stitch, weave, and embellish. Thread Count is curated by Jane Black.

I am a featured artist in the new quilt book “Abstracts and Geometrics” by Martha Sielman. This book features several other quilt artists in addition to myself. It is so exciting to part of this project. The quilt “Waking Up” is touring right now with the Book. If you happen upon the show definitely check it out and report back!

The Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority has purchase the quilt used to make the image for the tiles in the Hyatt parking garage. You can find the original work by the second floor elevators at the High Street and Goodale Street lobby. (There is a giant electronic head in this lobby so you will know you have arrived at the right location.) Take the escalator up from the ground floor. You will find the work next to the elevator.
